Neutrino Bath a space opera in one act
Three women physicists float on the surface of a lake buried a kilometre underground — the site of a cavernous neutrino detector.
While repairing one of the sensors, their boat flips over, hurling the heroines into the water a glow with neutrino-induced
radiation.
Arriving from a supernova 4 billion light years away, the neutrinos penetrate the lake and start blazing faster than the speed of
light. This creates shimmering cones of Cherenkov radiation (the optical equivalent of a sonic boom) enveloping the submerged
researchers. Descending together to the bottom of the lake in a state of telepathic euphoria, they discover why the universe is not
symmetrical.

Large scale collaborative work,
that takes the form of a 6 hour concert installation. Presented by ASKO | Schönberg at the Holland Festival 2024.
For
Mutability composer Yannis Kyriakides asked twelve other composers
to write three-minute miniatures.
Several will perform the music themselves, alongside musicians from Asko|Schönberg.
‘Each piece tells its own story,’ Kyriakides says, ‘which is not expressed in language but embodied by the musicians.’
The music is played live, but is also transformed by a series of algorithms
that constantly mutate the pre-recorded visuals and sounds of the soloists.
Soloists, visual projections and electronics meet in a hallucinatory space designed by Theun Mosk.
The audience is free to move through a concert installation that is constantly changing and filled
with ghostly reflections of the original miniatures. The identity of the instruments can be heard at times, but not always.
Magical music grows out of the twelve crossing life paths to linger in for a while – the full six hours of the mutation process,
or part of it.

Opera of Things (2019) for velicon, voice, 3 power banks, 2 ventilators, plasma lamp, 4 adapters,
remote control, virtual keyboard and bat detector is a composition for solo performer focused on movement, proximity and reanimation.
Composer Jasna Veličković leads a coil over the magnets, triggering the magnetic fields to produce their ‘voice’.
Veličković uses a similar procedure to capture the ‘voices’ of power adapters or remote controllers.
The title of this work alludes to the concept of the ‘Internet of Things’,
which involves extending internet connectivity beyond standard devices into any range of common objects, such as a lamp or a ventilator.
The first concert: Omni《Sound+Space: Sphere》presents the recent works of nine musicians— Panayiotis Kokoras,
Seunghyeon Kim, Jenny Abouav, Sujin Kim, João Carlos Pinto, Pascal Staudt, HAI Trio, Jasna Veličković, Jaeho Hwang, who selected through the open call from around the world. Introducing the unique areas that each musician has built, such as newly developed instruments, space-based electronic music, performance, and more, the concert embraces unfamiliar sound areas.
Concert date: 29 November, 18:00 and 21:00, T6, Oil Tank, Seoul.
Excited about upcoming concerts at Instruments Make Play festival with a newly formed duet with Anton Mobin. On the program festival also performances by Calum Stirling and Chris Meighan. These performances are part of a small tour which includes shows in Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Deventer. Thanks to Lukas Simonis, Julie Dassaux and Harco Rutgers.

“They must invariably have hope!”
The street lottery seller is aware that he is “selling hope”.
That’s the trade he is into and it’s the same for him and those who buy it from him.
He doesn’t know which ticket will win.
If he doesn’t sell all the tickets he buys wholesale, he may win.
But mostly he loses of course, like most people who gamble.
He walks his neighborhood, he knows people and people know him.
He jokes and comments and circulates daily news.
So he is bound by community customs and ethics.
For example, one told us when we asked what makes a street seller good at his job, that besides being a talented seller, he must also have a sense of responsibility and be trusted.
He said something hard to translate: “if you see a man devastated and nervous you must be careful or you will ruin him”.
But most people buy lottery tickets when they feel hopeful and lucky.
One told us that he once won a lot. He bought a hotel for his brothers.
And they left him on the street.
“Some play for the moment, some play professionally and some others are mad”

Four live performances of Opera of Things
by composer/performer Jasna Veličković will be showed during the POST OPERA exhibition.
Opera of Things exists in two modalities: as a three-part installation in the exhibition space and a music-theatre experience performed during several occasions. The installation is perceived as an ‘intervention’ in the exhibition context, each part of it ‘interrupting’ and narrating the listening/viewing experience at different times. The three short compositions are based on the invoked voices of the objects on display (power adapters and Velicon), and they also refer to elements in opera: an aria ‘Beauty 3.2 Volts’, a duet ‘Diva and the Beast’ and a female quartet ‘Ophelia’.
Opera of Things was made possible by the Fonds Podiumkunsten.
Premiere, artist talk and demonstration of the instrument:
Sunday 19 May, 16:00 at TENT, Rotterdam.
Following performances:
Friday 24 May, 17:00 and 19:00 t TENT Rotterdam.
Wednesday 19 June, 17:00 at TENT Rotterdam.

Sputnik, composition I wrote for Debora Richards and Nada Kolundžija for two pianos quarter-tone apart, was published this May by Vertical Jazz production house in Belgrade, as part of Nada Kolundžija's project A Little Anthology of Piano Music (1914–2014).
BREATHING IN/BREATHING OUT: is a series of three compact discs and an accompanying book initiated by acclaimed Serbian pianist Nada Kolundžija and edited by musicologist Ivana Miladinović Prica. The collection of 37 piano pieces written by 25 composers, which Nada Kolundžija recorded in Belgrade during the 2015 and 2016, covers one century of music history from 1914 to 2014. This is a kind of topography of various musical idioms which emerged and branched out starting from the early 20th-century avant-garde composers, until the present day and its more-or-less faithful “heirs” both in the West and the East. The variety of genre range from avant-garde and experimental music through minimalism and post-minimalism; from mysticism to jazz and film music; АrvoPärt, Louise Andriessen, Philip Glass, Scott Pender, Lola Perrin, David Lang, Toby Тwining, Jacob Ter Veldhuis, Galen H. Brown, Yannis Kyriakides, Vuk Kulenović, William Duckworth, Anton Batagov, Katarina Miljković, Ivana Stefanović, Milos Raičković, Miroslav Savić, Dušan Bogdanović, Miodrag Lazarov Pashu, Meredith Моnk, Gurdjieff/de Hartman, Jasna Veličković, Conlon Nancarrow, John Cage and Eric Satie. "I imagine an overall environment: an immersive installation that propels visitors to the world of the recording studio and that is inspred by the pioneering work of Kurt Schwitters, the Merzbau (1923-1937). Musicians from all backgrounds are invited to bring this studio/sculpture to life, as it becomes home to their creations during the seven months of the Biennale. The pavilion merges visual arts and music with a nod not only to Bauhaus and the experiments of Black Mountain College but also Doug Aitken's Station."

Short film The Cause of Death (2015) by Bojan Fajfrić is selected for the 56. October Salon "The Pleasure of Love". In collaboration with Bojan I created the experimental music score for this film.
The ‘Black Wave’ was a prolific phase in the Yugoslav cinema in the mid 60s and early 70s that introduced the failure of the protagonist as the means of critical examination of the society. With The Cause of Death Bojan has decided to take over the roles of 5 major BW characters and re-enact their culminating scenes.
Sound track achieves the effect of communication signal and evokes traveling back and forth through time by using the original film dialogues and songs.

Composition sUn will receive new performance at the festival "Showroom of Contemporary Sound" (Izlog suvremenog zvuka) by Diego Espinosa in Zagreb. Showroom of Contemporary Sound is a festival focused on contemporary music, viz. contemporary sound, with a wider understanding of the term contemporary, thereby following the conception of Music Showroom, as designed by a poet and literary theorist Ante Stamać (the founder of the Music Showroom) and academician Nikša Gligo (longtime artistic leader). Showroom of Contemporary Sound is not limited in genre, not defined in style, nor is it directed to promoting a certain poetics. However, that does not mean it has no clear program guidelines and set goals. The new music festival of Music Showroom promotes and presents musical exploration, development of technology and creating new DIY instruments and software, it is open to young people and it gives space for experimenting, while not dividing musicians and composers to academically educated and those educated outside the institutions, but promotes a dialogue between them, mutual collaboration and exchange of knowledge and ideas. It is precisely the openness of the concept that enables the festival programme to change and redesign itself, following the contemporary music production and shifting its focus in the direction of new tendencies...

Short film The Cause of Death (2015) by Bojan Fajfrić will be presented at the Exhibition 1966 Constellations Gaur at the San Telmo museum, San Sebastian from 22 Jan-15 May 2016.
As the protagonist of this story, he embodied two modes of existence, appropriating texts and actions from Yugoslav film history and inserting them into the settings and conditions of his life in the Netherlands.
Sound track achieves the effect of communication signal and evokes traveling back and forth through time by using the original film dialogues and songs.
First screening: 22 January 2016, San Telmo museum, San Sebastian.

MATA goes full blast in an unforgettable evening that probes all that we understand to work together to create music. Norwegian composer Bjørn Erik Haugen’s Summon transforms images to sound and back to image, questioning if what we see is really what we intend it to be. Mirela Ivičević, in her Orgy of References, takes on the role of the composer, their resumes in particular, giving a new take on the litany of accolades that fill them. Meanwhile American Megan Grace Beugger’s Liaisons connects a dancer to a prepared piano via a pulley system – what is more important: the sound or the performance? Serbian composer Jasna Veličković tears apart the instrument, creating music instead with magnets in her sUn. Finally, Music for Lamps – the trio of Adam Basanta, Max Stein, and Julian Stein – puts forth a clean slate in which tens of table lamps outfitted with transducers create their own music. Sound designer Clare Gallagher.

BL!NDMAN [drums] speelt baanbrekend werk van springlevende componisten, onder wie drie stoere vrouwen. Om het geheel af te sluiten zet Jasna Velickovic, met elektrische spoelen, duimpianos aan het zingen.
